GENESIS I.2-3

… et spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas.
Dixitque Deus: Fiat lux. Et facta est lux.

And the spirit of God was carried above the waters.

We’ve seen faciam in Catullus, meaning “I do it.” Facta is from the same verb, meaning to make or to do. “God said let there be light, and the light was made.”

You may have noticed that I gave the word as “factum” in the vocabulary. “Facta” is the feminine form, because “lux” is a feminine noun. Nouns in Latin are masculine, feminine or neuter. An adjective follows the gender of the noun it is describing.
