Lesson 5.3 Ovid

ICARUS FALLING

Some people are looking at the flying duo and reacting to the sight.

hos aliquis tremula dum captat harundine pisces,
aut pastor baculo stivave innixus arator
vidit et obstipuit, quique aethera carpere possent,
credidit esse deos.

You can guess at tremula and captat. Pisces presumably has something to do with fish, and you may recognise carpere from carpe diem (seize the day). Can you guess at anything else?

I’ll break the passage down into the order of modern prose, and go through it word by word.
